Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) and Winning International Group have officially reached a significant milestone in their collaborative history, successfully completing classification and support work for 150 vessels. The achievement was celebrated during a high-level meeting in Singapore, where delegations from both companies gathered to reflect on the strength of their partnership and discuss the future of the maritime industry.

The meeting, which featured BV’s Vice President for M&O South East Asia, Drago Pinteric, and Winning International Group’s Vice President, Sun Zhijun, centered on the urgent need for decarbonization and technological integration within the bulk carrier market. As the International Maritime Organization (IMO) tightens environmental regulations, the two companies are aligning their long-term strategies to ensure fleet compliance and energy efficiency.

Central to their discussions were the technical challenges associated with the transition to alternative fuels. BV has been instrumental in supporting Winning International’s logistics operations, including their significant involvement in the Simandou logistics project. By providing classification services, newbuilding guidance, and value-added advisory services, BV has assisted the group in navigating the complexities of modern vessel operations.

As the industry accelerates its shift toward digital transformation and green energy, the strategic alliance between shipowners and classification societies has become increasingly vital. Sun Zhijun highlighted that the ability of the shipping industry to meet global decarbonization targets relies on the deep technical expertise of partners like Bureau Veritas, which provides the necessary framework for safer, more resilient maritime operations.

The Singapore engagement was not only a commemorative event but also a forward-looking session that explored how both organizations can tackle evolving industry challenges together. With the foundation of trust established through 150 vessels, both companies confirmed their intent to continue working on future-proofing fleets against the backdrop of an increasingly stringent regulatory landscape, focusing on both existing fleet performance and future newbuilding designs.
